Welcome to Yu-Roguelike! A Beginner's Guide to Your First Adventure
Welcome to Yu-Roguelike! A Beginner's Guide to Your First Adventure
Thank you for downloading "Yu-Roguelike"! This guide will walk new players through the basics of playing, from starting out to clearing the first dungeon, the "Forest of Beginnings".

Your adventure starts here!
Getting Ready for Adventure: How to Choose a Dungeon
When you start the game, you'll see the dungeon selection screen. This is where you choose which dungeon to explore.
Step 1: Choose a World and Dungeon
First, let's select the initial world and dungeon.
- Click the "A-World" button.
- Next, from the dungeon list, click on "Forest of Beginnings".
When you select the "Forest of Beginnings," details about the dungeon will appear on the right side of the screen. You can check the recommended level and the dungeon's features here. Don't worry about the difficulty settings for now.

"A-World" and "Forest of Beginnings" are selected.
Step 2: Enter the Dungeon
Click the "Enter Dungeon" button at the bottom of the details card to start your adventure!
Into the Dungeon!
Once you enter the dungeon, the screen will switch to the game view. Here, you'll control your character, defeat enemies, and venture deeper.
Basic Controls and How to Read the Screen
- Movement: Use the arrow keys (↑↓←→) on your keyboard to move your character up, down, left, and right.
- Player: The character you control is the blue triangle on the screen.
- Enemies: The red circles are enemies. Touching an enemy will initiate combat.
- Walls and Floors: Black tiles are walls, and light gray tiles are floors. You cannot pass through walls.

Control your character to find enemies, treasure chests, and the stairs!
How to Fight Enemies
The dungeon is full of dangerous enemies. Let's master the basics of combat.
Let's Attack!
To attack an enemy, you first need to move to a tile adjacent to it.
- Once you are next to an enemy, press the arrow key in the direction of the enemy.
- Alternatively, you can face the enemy and press the spacebar to attack. (The direction your triangle is pointing is the direction of your attack).
When your attack hits, a number representing the damage dealt will appear above the enemy. If you reduce an enemy's HP to 0, you'll defeat it and gain experience points (EXP).

Deal damage and defeat the enemy!
Check Enemy Info!
By hovering your cursor over and clicking on an enemy, you can see detailed information about it (level, HP, attack power, etc.). It also shows a prediction of how much damage you'll deal and receive, so it's a good habit to check this before fighting strong foes.
Leveling Up and Items
As you defeat enemies, your character will grow stronger.
Experience and Leveling Up
When you accumulate enough EXP by defeating enemies, your character's level will increase. Leveling up raises your max HP, attack, and defense, and also fully restores your HP.
Find Treasure! The Treasure Chest System
You may find treasure chests scattered throughout the dungeon. Moving onto a tile with a treasure chest will automatically open it and give you an item.

You can get useful items from treasure chests.
You can view and use the items you've collected by clicking the "Items" button on the toolbar at the top of the screen. If you find a potion that restores HP, try using it when you're in a pinch.
Deeper into the Dungeon
The goal of the dungeon is to reach the final floor.
To the Next Floor
Each floor has one staircase (a yellow square). Moving onto the tile with the stairs will take you to the next floor.

Step on these stairs to go down to the next floor.
Clearing the Dungeon
The "Forest of Beginnings" has 10 floors in total. After defeating the boss on the 10th floor and descending the stairs, you will clear the dungeon. A results screen showing your adventure's summary will appear, and you will then return to the base (the dungeon selection screen).
What if You're Defeated? Try Again and Again!
Adventure is fraught with danger. If you're defeated by an enemy and your HP drops to 0, don't worry!

It's okay to be defeated. Your hard work won't be lost.
In "Yu-Roguelike," there are no penalties for being defeated in a dungeon!
- The experience points (EXP) you've earned are not lost.
- Your level remains the same.
- You won't lose any of the items you've collected.
Your adventure for that run will end, and you'll return to the base (the dungeon selection screen), but your character's strength will be preserved. So, don't be afraid to take on tough-looking enemies! The key to progress is to keep challenging yourself and gradually strengthen your character.
Feel free to jump into dungeons and enjoy your adventure without the fear of being defeated!
Summary
That covers the basics of how to play "Yu-Roguelike." To recap...

- Level up by defeating enemies!
- Get items from treasure chests to aid your adventure!
- Find the stairs and head to the next floor!
